Skin cancer screening

Early detection is one of the most effective ways to maintain long-term health. As the body’s largest organ, the skin is continuously exposed to environmental factors over time, which can increase vulnerability to precancerous and cancerous skin lesions.
A full-body skin cancer screening is a comprehensive exam in which the skin is carefully evaluated to assess existing lesions and identify any areas that may be concerning. This is a routine and preventive evaluation that most individuals should undergo typically on an annual basis. Depending on your skin type, medical history, or personal or family history of skin cancer, more frequent screenings may be recommended.
These exams are simple and often provide significant peace of mind. Importantly, when precancerous or cancerous lesions are detected early, they can often be treated more easily and effectively.
Prior to your skin cancer screening, we recommend arriving without makeup, nail polish, or artificial nails, and wearing comfortable clothing as you will be asked to change into a gown. During your visit, we perform a thorough examination of your skin, with special attention to any areas of concern. Please let us know about any specific lesions you would like evaluated, as well as anything that is new or changing in color, shape, size, or symptoms, or any spots that are not healing properly or bleeding.
